What is with Sasuke x Hinata pairings?

I'm a NaruHina fan; always was, always will be. I've never liked Sakura and with recent developments Sasuke can die in a fire for all I care. But anyway, this has been bothering me for a while; I occasionally see art for Sasuke and Hinata pairings, and it's like "wtf are they smoking?" I don't understand where they're getting these ideas seeing as though they've never, and I mean never, made eye contact throughout the whole series. At least as far as I can remember. I know there are other ridiculous Hinata pairings (namely all of Akatsuki...), but that's so out there I'm not at all concerned with it. Could anyone please explain to me how people came up with this?
