Does name placement in anime couple pairings mean anything?

Typically, whichever name is first is the dominant one and the name that comes second is the the submissive one. Like, in Ouran High School Host Club, Hikaru is the dominant one over Kaoru so in a couple name, it would be HikaKao. If it were the other way around, it wouldn't make much sense. But, some couples make sense either way. If I see a couple name, I immediately assume the first one is the dominant one which is usually true. But, KibaNaru could be NaruKiba and it would still make sense to me because I'm really not sure who would be the dominant out of them. You get what I mean, right?
